The Maharashtra government on Tuesday Jan 03, 2017 organised a day-long Digi-Dhan Mela in Mumbai to promote digital payments habit among people. The Digidhan Mela was organised in Meerut on Wed Jan 04, 2017.
The day-long Mela was organised under the aegis of Central Government schemes- Lucky Grahak Yojana for Consumers and Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana for Merchants, which seek to nudge people towards significantly higher usage of digital transactions through the offer of incentives.
Citizens were offered help in opening bank accounts, linking mobile numbers to accounts, Aadhar enrolment, Aadhar updates, seeding Aadhar with bank account numbers etc.
The mela also offered training to auto and taxi drivers and farmers to accept online payments via the newly launched BHIM app.
